There’s a New Rebel in Town

We are excited to share the news that A Modern Vow, Amy Shackelford’s wedding planning company, has re-launched as Modern Rebel & Co. Amy is a “Rebel with a Cause” and is bringing some pretty awesome things to the industry. Not only is she branching out to coordinate all types of events, but each of her events is in some way connected to a non-profit or other worthy cause.

Modern Rebel & Co is part of a trend running through the event industry; it’s ok to deviate from the norm, the “traditional.” Make your event your own, make a difference on a wider scale and have people like Amy help you achieve those goals.

A portion of proceeds from every event Modern Rebel coordinates goes towards your choice of four organizations, The JED Foundation, Center Against Domestic Violence, Homes for the Homeless or B.E.A.T. Help us and help Modern Rebel raise awareness and funding for emotional and mental health, efforts against domestic violence, jobs and shelter for homeless families and educational and cultural programming for youth.

Launch Party in NYC

On December 6th, Modern Rebel & Co. had its official launch party where we joined them at People Lounge. Kandylion was there with some mad beats and Mama D’s Tasty Treats made our sweet tooth mighty happy. Even though the party was hoppin’ we can’t forget the real reason we were there, to support local New York charities. A total of $500 was raised that evening alone; thank you to all contributors!

About Amy and Modern Rebel & Co.

Modern Rebel is an alternative event planning company with a social impact focus.

It’s really important to me that we’re making event planning more accessible, affordable, and also keeping perspective. My mission is that I will never do an event that is not in some way connected to a cause.

Be a Part of Something Bigger

Modern Rebels Art Show at Milwaukee Art Museum

New York is not the only place feeling the tide of change. This past summer, the Milwaukee Art Museum featured an exhibition called “Van Gogh to Pollock: Modern Rebels.” The signage uses the red and black seen in Modern Rebel’s logo. Sometimes you have to be bold, be loud, be heard. The artists in the collection dared to be different, paving the way for creatives that followed.
If you’re planning an event in the NYC area, Modern Rebel and Pink Shutter are practically neighbors and would love to party with you. Contact us here.

Whitney and Daniel’s Moody Romance

Having worked with William Kim Photography in the past, we knew Whitney and Daniel’s photos would be dreamy. View the highlights below and then enjoy the full gallery. Their venue was the expansive 440 Seaton in DTLA. Besides having amazing rooftop views of the city center, the interior of exposed brick and wood beams gives that perfect industrial cool vibe. What a beautiful contrast to the softness of Whitney’s satin dress and the rustic table decor.

The #dacronins brought on the fun during their reception. A food truck served up churros for those with a sweet tooth (why stop with wedding cake)? Our photo booth joined in thanks to their purchases of a limited-time Gilt City offer. Whitney and Daniel made sure their guests had props with which to pose and custom prints to remember the occasion.
